Razorlight are an English indie rock band formed in 2002. They are primarily known in the UK, having topped the charts with the 2006 single "America" and its parentself-titled album, their second. The band consists of lead singer and rhythm guitaristJohnny Borrell, drummer David 'Skully' Sullivan Kaplan, bass player Freddie Stitz and lead guitarist Gus Robertson.

The Verve was an English rock band formed in 1989 in Wigan by lead vocalistRichard Ashcroft, guitarist Nick McCabe, bassist Simon Jones, and drummer Peter SalisburySimon Tong later became a member. Beginning with a psychedelic sound indebted to shoegazing and space rock, by the mid-1990s the band had released several EPs and three albums. They also endured name and line-up changes, breakups, health problems, drug abuse and various lawsuits. Filter referred to them as "one of the tightest knit, yet ultimately volatile bands in history". Their commercial breakthrough was the 1997 album Urban Hymns and their single "Bitter Sweet Symphony", which became a worldwide hit. Soon after this commercial peak, the band broke up in April 1999, citing internal conflicts. During their eight year split, Ashcroft dismissed talk of a reunion, saying: "You're more likely to get all fourBeatles on stage". The band's original line-up reunited in June 2007, embarking on a tour later that year and releasing the album Forth in August 2008. In 2009, the band broke up for the third time

The Smiths were an English alternative rock band, formed in Manchester in 1982. Based on the song writing partnership of Morrissey (vocals) and Johnny Marr(guitar), the band also included Andy Rourke (bass) and Mike Joyce (drums). Critics have called them the most important alternative rock band to emerge from the British independent music scene of the 1980s.[1][2] The group were signed to the independent record label Rough Trade Records, for whom they released four studio albums and several compilations, as well as numerous non-LP singles. Although they had limited commercial success outside the UK while they were still together, and never released a single that charted higher than number 10 in their home country during their existence, The Smiths won a growing following, and remain cult and commercial favourites. The band broke up in 1987 and have turned down several offers to reunite since then.

Buzzcocks are an English punk rock band formed in Bolton in 1976, led by singer–songwriter–guitarist Pete Shelley.
They are regarded as an important influence on the Manchester music scene, theindependent record label movement, punk rockpower poppop punk and indie rock. They achieved commercial success with singles that fused pop craftsmanship with rapid-fire punk energy. The Fratellis are an indie rock band from Glasgow, Scotland. The band consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Jon Fratelli (born John Lawler), bass guitarist Barry Fratelli (born Barry Wallace), and drummer, backing vocalist, occasional guitarist and banjo player Mince Fratelli (born Gordon McRory). During live shows, they are assisted by pianist/rhythm guitarist, Will Foster. The group's debut album Costello Music was released on 26 September 2006 and debuted at a high #2 on the UK Album Charts and was also successful in the United States peaking at #48 on the Billboard 200. The album contained 2 UK Top 10 singles "Chelsea Dagger" and "Whistle for the Choir" It also contained 2 UK Top 40 hits "Henrietta" and "Baby Fratelli". It produced other singles such as "Flathead" that made #67 on the UK Singles Charts and #73 on the Billboard Hot 100 which became a hit after featuring in an iPod commercial. The song "Chelsea Dagger" was adopted by the Chicago Blackhawks as their goal-scoring anthem in the 2008-2009 season and was their theme song in their 2009-2010 championship season when they won the Stanley Cup.
